When Gail and I arrived, Pegleg and John Bales were waiting for us. We had had a near mishap in Mulvane on the way from Wichita to Winfield, so we arrived late in the afternoon. There was snow on nearly everything, but we were able to find the highest spot in the Walnut Grove because of it. We had the chute up in no time, a task engineered by John.
Special thanks go to Guinn Walker, who, I'm sure against his better judgment, drove all the way across town in the biggest snow storm of the decade to help me get the fence posts for the chute down from the attic.
The weekend turned out to be beautiful, although the nights were pretty cool. Throughout the weekend, lots of people came out to visit, camp and pick.
I didn't take nearly enough pictures.
If you have any pictures that you'd like to put up, or have me link to, let
Greg know.
