ENTER BY 9:30 AM, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th!
CONTEST BEGINS AT 1:00 PM!
Meet new friends and musicians, play in front of an audience, judge a musical competition, help with score tabulation etc., or listen in a very relaxed atmosphere. Grab your friends and head to the Riverat Camp to see who wins the "Band Scramble Champion" button.
At the Riverat camp, there will be 3 cans, one for Musicians, one for Judges and one for Assistants. Musicians use any acoustic instrument as well as voice. Please specify on entry form.
By 9:30 AM , Wednesday morning, September 13th, enter the Band Scramble competition by completing an entry form and depositing it in the Musicians can at the Riverat Camp. If you would like to be a Judge or Assistant, put your name in the 'Judges' or 'Assistants' cans. You can enter your name in only one category, as a musician, judge or assistant. Everyone who enters will get to participate. Assistants will help with administrative duties, such as score tabulation.
At 10:00 AM, names will be drawn to form the groups. All Musicians must be present at this time to meet their band members, decide on a band name, choose the spokesperson for the group and practice, practice, practice. Please be on time.
Bands will perform 2 songs at the Raticulous Party Platform in the Riverat camp toward the West end of the Pecan Grove. Bands will be judged on entertainment value, musical performance, showmanship, costuming, arrangement and tuning accuracy, with extra discretionary points awarded for presentation and/or songs relative to the Rat, White & Bluegrass theme or rodentia in general.
At Noon, all Judges and Assistants meet at the Riverat camp. At this time we will explain the rules, judging criteria and other tidbits of needed info. So, if you enter as a 'Judge' or 'Assistant', please be at the Riverat Camp at Noon!
At 1:00 PM, the Band Scramble will begin by each group's spokesperson drawing a number from a 'hat'. Each band will play in sequence based on the number drawn.
Buttons for competitors will be presented at the end of each set with "Special" prize buttons awarded to each member of the winning groups immediately following the contest.
This will be a very enjoyable time for all who participate, whether as a musician, judge, assistant or member of the audience! For added comfort, bring your own lawn chairs and refreshments.
First, second & third place bands will play on Stage 5, Wednesday, September 13th at 7:00 pm.
